Castiglione della Pescaia

The medieval town of Castiglione della Pescaia

From visiting the church of the Madonna of the Lily, built in the 18th century and the church of San Giovanni, where relics are housed of the patron of the land San Guglielmo d’Aquitania. The panorama from the top is truly spectacular, you can turn your gaze from the mountains of Uccellina in the Diaccia Botrona preserve to the plains of Grosseto.

The Diaccia Botrona nature preserve

Maremma is mostly nature, here the protected areas established to protect a natural heritage of invaluable beauty are a true paradise appreciated by all. Swampy land reclaimed over the course of the centuries, mostly to combat malaria, is today a great resource for animal and plant biodiversity of the region. You can also visit the Casa Rossa Ximenes, an architectural complex constructed for the control of the waters between the swamps and the sea, designed by engineer Ximenes of the Grand Dukes of of Lorena. At the moment it houses a multimedia museum to introduce the visitors to the history and evolution of this area.

A vacation to discover the beach of Rocchette

The fantastic and award-winning beach of Rocchette is a touristic excellency, a place where the beauty of the territory, its excellent touristic services and the respect and appreciation of its nature will evoke unique emotions. Here you can enjoy a clear, clean sea, large beaches and shallow depths, which make it ideal also for a holiday with the children.
The beach of Rocchette is protected from behind by a pine forest and vast areas of typical mediterranean nature and from up high by the imposing fortress of Rocchette, an ancient watchtower built in the twelfth century.
