Etwa 20 km weit von Follonica und Massa Marittima liegt das Staatliche Naturschutzgebiet Marsiliana. Dies gehört zum Naturpark von Montioni und umfasst in einem weiten hügeligen Gebiet etwa 450 Hektar.

Ein Schutzgebiet für das Hügelland und den maremmano Pferd

Das Staatliche Naturschutzgebiet Marsiliana entwickelt sich um die gleichnamige Villa, unter der Forstkorpsverwaltung. Es umfasst Wälder, Mediterrane Macchia-Vegetation, Olivenhainen und Weiden. Hauptzweck ist die renommierte, einheimische Tierart des „Maremma-Pferds“ aufzuwerten. Im Naturschutzgebiet konzentrieren sich die meisten Aktivitäten auf die Pferdezucht dieser feinen Rasse. Innerhalb der Marsiliana befindet sich die Reitschule des Forstkorpsverwaltung. Die Teilnahme an Führungen ist möglich nur unter Reservierung bei dem Verwaltungsamt des Forstkorps, unter der Nummer +39 0566/40019.
